Blue Jackets sign Will Weber to a one-year, two-way contract
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Will Weber to a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract for the 2014-15 season, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. As is club policy, further terms were not disclosed.
Weber, 25, was selected by Columbus in the second round, 53rd overall, at the 2007 NHL Draft. He has tallied three goals, seven assists, 10 points, 182 penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in 123 career American Hockey League games, all with the Springfield Falcons. The 6-4, 231-pound blueliner has also appeared in eight career ECHL games with the Evansville Icemen, registering 0-0-0 and 14 PIM.
A native of Gaylord, Michigan, Weber spent four seasons at Miami University (2008-12), recording 5-25-30, 263 PIM, +15 in 154 career games. He won a CCHA championship with the RedHawks in 2011 and was named the conference’s best defensive defenseman in 2010.
