Goal Oriented: Scott Hartnell
Hartnell was a pivotal part of Philadelphia’s offense last season, ranking in the top five on the team in goals, plus/minus, assists, points and shots during the regular season. If we were to transfer his stats over to the Blue Jackets roster and compare numbers, he would have ranked fourth in goals (20), third in assists (32), second in points (52) and tied for first, with Corey Tropp, in plus/minus rating (+11).
In short, the addition of Hartnell should bolster an already deep offensive attack for Columbus.
More often than not, Hartnell will score in one of two fashions: a one-timer from somewhere inside of or near the circles or on a deflected shot from the point. Hartnell’s goal chart is most comparable that of Ryan Johansen’s with a spread-out distribution, including plenty of activity from the circles.
