FAQs about Auditions

How do I get invited to auditions?
The Blue Jackets will assess each applicant based on their submitted application. There are a limited number of applicants who will be invited to audition; not all applicants will be invited to audition. Audition invitations will be emailed to the selected applicants on or before Wednesday, August 13th

What do auditions consist of?
Skating auditions will take place at 9:30 AM, followed by Interactive auditions at 11:30 AM.

Skating auditions are mandatory for all Ice Crew candidates. This will consist of basic skating drills, ice cleaning drills and game day simulations. Candidates who are interested in ONLY Pepsi Power Patrol and/or Yuengling Cannon Crew do not need to attend Skating auditions

Interactive auditions are mandatory for all candidates. This will consist of interactive group games, improv activities and informal interviews.

Can I audition for more than one team?
Yes, candidates are welcome to audition for one or more teams. When you apply, please indicate on the form which teams you would like to be considered.

If one of the teams you want to audition for is the Ice Crew, you will need to attend both Skating Auditions and Interactive Auditions. If the Ice Crew is not a team you want to audition for, you will need to attend Interactive Auditions only.

What time should I arrive for auditions?
If you are auditioning for the Ice Crew, please arrive at 9:00 AM for registration. Skating auditions will begin promptly at 9:30 AM.

If you are auditioning for Pepsi Power Patrol and/or Yuengling Cannon Crew ONLY, please arrive at 11:00 AM for registration. Interactive auditions will begin promptly at 11:30 AM.

What should I wear to auditions?
Female candidates should wear dance/yoga pants or leggings, midriff-baring sports bra/dance top and athletic footwear.
*You must be able to pin your number tag to the front of your top

Male candidates should wear a T-shirt, athletic shorts or pants and athletic footwear

If you are taking part in the Skating auditions, you must bring your own skates. You may also bring a jacket to wear while you are waiting off ice.


When will I find out if I am selected?
The team selections will be posted here on Monday, August 25th at 1:00 PM

If you are selected, you will be required to confirm your position on the team by 9:00 PM. More details will be posted at that time.

What is required of me after I am selected?
All team members will be required to attend the following mandatory team-related activities:

Team Mixer – Tuesday, August 26th after 5:00pm
Orientation – Wednesday, September 3rd after 5:00pm
Photo Shoot – Sunday, September 14th all day

Please make sure these dates are reserved on your calendar if you plan to audition for the teams.

What are the Blue Jackets Promotion Teams?
The Blue Jackets Promotion Teams consist of the Pepsi Power Patrol, Ice Crew and Yuengling Cannon Crew. These three teams participate in the in-game entertainment at all Blue Jackets home games and make many appearances in the community.

During home games, the Pepsi Power Patrol members meet and greet guests, find fans to participate in promotions and on-ice contests and distribute prizes.

The Ice Crew keeps the ice in prime condition during breaks in play and intermissions. Members of the Ice Crew participate with fans during on-ice contests and must be skilled skaters.

The Yuengling Cannon Crew rallies the fans every time the Blue Jackets score, leading the goal celebrations next to the Blue Jackets Goal Cannon.

What are the requirements to be a Promotion Team member?
Candidates must be 18 years or older by September 1, 2014.

Candidates must be teamwork oriented, high-spirited, outgoing, physically fit, comfortable engaging with people of all ages and skilled in interacting with fans.

Ice Crew candidates must have at least an intermediate skating ability and be able to perform ice cleaning duties.

Yuengling Cannon Crew candidates must be able to maneuver a large flag.

What kind of commitment is required if I am selected?
Team members must be able to commit to working a minimum of 22 home games. Team members must be able to arrive at the Nationwide Arena by the following report times:

Pepsi Power Patrol must report 3 hours before game time (4:00pm for a 7:00pm game)
Ice Crew must report 2 hours before game time (5:00pm for a 7:00pm game)
Yuengling Cannon Crew must report 90 minutes before game time (5:30pm for a 7:00pm game)

What is the compensation for each team?
Based on arrival times and extent of duties, compensation for each team is as follows:

Pepsi Power Patrol – $85 per game
Blue Jackets Ice Crew – $50 per game
Yuengling Cannon Crew – $70 per game

What are the team uniforms?
Female Pepsi Power Patrol members wear a midriff top, pants and athletic shoes
Male Pepsi Power Patrol members wear a short-sleeve top, pants and athletic shoes
Female Ice Crew members wear a figure-fitting dress and skates
Yuengling Cannon Crew members wear a white long-sleeve collared shirt, vest, pants, kepi hat and casual shoes

All uniform items will be provided by the Blue Jackets except for skates for Ice Crew members. Uniform items that are provided remain property of the Blue Jackets and must be returned at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season.
