EDITOR'S NOTE: You've arrived at the CBJ Power Rankings, our weekly breakdown of the top-five players, statistics, trends and many other Blue Jackets-related categories. If you're looking for the traditional power rankings, you've come to the wrong place. We'll go in-depth and outside the box, and hopefully give you something to think about.
For this week's rankings, we're talking offense. Everyone loves goal-scoring, right? It also helps when your hometown team is doing more of it, that's for sure, and the Blue Jackets have experienced one of the more meteoric rises up the goals/game chart in recent weeks. Before Saturday's game, the Jackets had jumped to sixth in goals-per-game and were second in the Eastern Conference. They've dropped a couple of spots overall after a two-goal performance Saturday night against Buffalo, but are still among the East's best in terms of scoring average.
Let's take a closer look at the top five.
The Bruins, one of the most committed and structural teams in the NHL, have a dangerous combination of consistent offense and top-notch goaltending. Many consider them the "team to beat" in the Eastern Conference and it's hard to argue with their offensive depth (in particular, a balanced four-line attack) and a defense corps led by one of te league's best in Zdeno Chara.
