Chaput (pronounced sha-PUT), who turns 21 today, has registered 11G-17A-28P-51PIM in 67 games with Springfield (AHL) this season, his first as a professional. He leads all Falcons rookies in goals (tied), assists and points. A native of Ile Bizard, Quebec, he tallied 77-110-187 with 238 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +49 in 216 career Quebec Major Junior Hockey League games with Shawinigan and Lewiston from 2008-12.
In 2011-12, Chaput registered 21-42-63, had 47 penalty minutes and a +39 plus/minus rating in 57 games with Shawinigan, leading the club in assists, while ranking second in points and third (tied) in game-winning goals (four). Chaput was named MVP of the 2012 Memorial Cup after leading the tournament in scoring with 5-7-12 in six games and assisting on the championship-winning goal as the Cataractes captured the first Memorial Cup title in franchise history.
