Blue Jackets-Stars Preview

GAME: Columbus Blue Jackets (5-14-0) at Dallas Stars (12-6-1).

TIME: Friday, 8:30 p.m. EST.

The Dallas Stars will try to continue their dominance of the Columbus Blue Jackets when the teams meet for the first time this season at the American Airlines Center.

The Stars have won seven straight from the Blue Jackets, outscoring them 21-11 with two shutouts. Overall, Dallas leads the series, 14-2.

Center Jason Arnott is heating up for Dallas at the right time. He tallied his first hat trick of the season and sixth of his career Wednesday in the Stars' 4-2 win over the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the finale of a four-game road trip.

"He had some good looks at the net and got some good passes from Brenden Morrow," said Dallas captain Mike Modano. "When Jason's skating well and driving to the net, good things happen for him."

Arnott finished with five goals and two assists on the road swing. He had two goals and four assists in three games against Columbus last season.

Leading scorer Jere Lehtinen has game-winning goals in each of his last two games for Dallas. He has been held without a point in his last three games versus Columbus.

Columbus comes into this game having dropped seven of its last eight. The Blue Jackets will also play their second game since acquiring three-time Stanley Cup winner Sergei Fedorov in a trade this week with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

The six-time All-Star had three shots on goal in just over 22 minutes in his Columbus debut Wednesday, a 2-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues.

"I was not as sharp as I'd like to be," said Federov, who has 30 goals and 41 assists in 69 career games against Dallas.

Columbus acquired Fedorov to help an offense that has managed a league-low 34 goals this season. The Blue Jackets also need help on special teams. They have not scored a power-play goal in their last four games, going 0-for-20 with the man-advantage in that span.
