BLUE JACKETS (29-31-12) at DEVILS (42-25-4)

Last 10 -- Columbus 4-3-3; New Jersey 5-4-1

Season series -- The teams will be meeting for the first and only time this season. The Devils, who are 5-2-2 all-time against the Blue Jackets, scored a 2-1 victory last season.

Big Story -- So the question of the night will be which power-play scores first? Inquiring minds will want to know when the Blue Jackets and Devils square off at Prudential Center. The Devils are 0-for-17 over their last six games with the man advantage and the Jackets are 0-for-16 in their last four matches. Despite going 0-for-3 against the Blues on Saturday, the Devils did generate some good scoring chances -- producing 8 shots total.

"Teams attack certain things on the penalty kill and they give you other plays that you could deal with and you have to take what they're giving you and try to take it to your advantage," Devils coach Jacques Lemaire said. "What we've been doing is trying to make these plays that are not there. That the other team is protecting. An example is, if we get a guy in slot, they sometimes have a guy protecting this, so if you still want to center it, it would be hard to have success."

Team Scope:

Blue Jackets --
The Jackets lost their 14th straight game (0-9-5) in Nashville on Saturday -- 1-0 in overtime. The losing streak in the Music City dates back four seasons as the last time Columbus scored a victory in Nashville was April 3, 2006. The 14-game losing streak is the longest by an NHL team in one city. Nashville's Cody Franson scored 1:54 into overtime to win it for the Predators. Columbus goalie Steve Mason made 30 saves in a losing effort.

Devils -- After missing his chance against St. Louis on Saturday, goalie Martin Brodeur will shoot for the eighth 40-win season of his career against the Jackets. No other goalie has more than three 40-win seasons. Despite allowing just one goal on Saturday, Brodeur and the Devils dropped a 1-0 decision to the St. Louis Blues and goalie Ty Conklin. Conklin turned aside 29 shots for his first shutout against the Devils and the 14th of his career.

Who's Hot -- Columbus forward Kristian Huselius has 3 goals and 8 points in his last four games.

Injury Report --
The Blue Jackets will be without two key cogs along the blue line in Jan Hejda (knee) and Rostislav Klesla (hip). The Devils have no significant injuries to report.

Stat Pack --
Devils center Travis Zajac appeared in his 308th straight game in a 1-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday -- passing teammate Jay Pandolfo for the fourth longest stretch in club history. Defenseman Ken Daneyko holds the Devils' record of 388 consecutive games (Nov. 4, 1989 through March 29, 1994), followed by Sergei Brylin (328) and Kirk Muller (321).

Puck Drop -- The Devils are 10-14-3 in their last 27 games and 7-8-1 since dealing for Ilya Kovalchuk. It won't get any easier against the Blue Jackets since New Jersey is 6-9-1 against Western Conference opponents this season, including three straight losses.
