FLAMES (8-9-1) AT BLUE JACKETS (4-13-2)

TV: SNET-W (HD), FS-O (HD)

Last 10:
Calgary 5-5-0; Columbus 3-6-1

Season Series: This will be the first meeting of four between the Flames and Blue Jackets this season. Last season Calgary won three of the four contests, including a 4-3 victory on March 4 at Scotiabank Place. Miikka Kiprusoff stopped two penalty shots during the game to lead the Flames to victory.

Big Story:
Both the Flames and Blue Jackets are at the bottom of their division standings, respectively, and will be battling desperately for the two points that are up for grabs. The Blue Jackets, however, are coming off of a big 4-3 overtime victory over the Predators on Saturday night while the Flames are .500 in their 10 ten games.

Team Scope:

Flames:
The Flames picked up a big victory on Saturday night when they bested the then League-leading Chicago Blackhawks by a margin of 5-3. This victory came on the heels of a 3-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators as well as a 4-1 loss to the Blackhawks last week, so scoring five goals on the usually stingy Hawks was a big boost for the Flames' offense.

"It's been the big knock on us that we haven't scored goals this year," forward Lee Stempniak said. "Goaltending has been good and the defense has been good. We're just not scoring enough goals to win games."

However, the Flames know they have a long way to go to climb back up the standings, starting with improving on the power play as their power play is operating at a 12.5-percent clip going into Monday's game.

"We haven't scored a lot of goals 5-on-5 and we need to pick that up," coach Brent Sutter said. "Obviously, our power play hasn't been where we want it to be."

Blue Jackets:
The Blue Jackets hope that Saturday's win over the Predators is the start of a trend as new players contributed to the win in a big way -- James Wisniewski, who missed the first eight games of the season because of a suspension, scored the winning goal in overtime and Jeff Carter, who missed the beginning of the season with an injury, tallied his first goal as a member of the Blue Jackets.

"We have a lot of new faces in here, myself included," goalie Curtis Sanford said. "I don't think you can really look at history. This is a new team."

Sanford has started the last two games for the Blue Jackets and made 27 saves in Saturday's victory. Although the Blue Jackets only have four wins on the season, three of those wins have come in their last five games.

Who's Hot:
Curtis Glencross notched 2 goals and 1 assist in his last outing. …Vinny Prospal leads the Blue Jackets in points (6G-9A) and has notched 4 points in his last five games.

Injury Report:
Anton Babchuck (hand), Brett Carson (back) and David Moss (foot) are on IR for the Flames while Brendan Morrison has missed the last five games with a knee injury and he is listed as day-to-day. …Columbus forward Kristian Huselius (pectoral surgery), defenseman Radek Martinek (concussion) and goalie Mark Dekanich (ankle) are on injured reserve

Stat Pack:
While the Flames are in the bottom three in the League on the power play, the Blue Jackets sit dead last in penalty kill at 73.1 percent.

Puck Drop: "We obviously have a ways to go and we gotta start climbing here and we gotta take it just a game at a time," Sutter said. "There's no easy games in the National Hockey League, and there's no easy buildings to play in the National Hockey League."
