Columbus Blue Jackets 3, Anaheim Ducks 4 FINAL

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Joffrey Lupul is already making an impact for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

Lupul scored two goals and assisted on Keith Carney's game-wining goal with 2:36 to play Friday night, leading the Mighty Ducks to a 4-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Carney ripped a slap shot past Blue Jackets goalie Pascal Leclaire just 1:31 after Jan Hrdina scored his second goal of the game to pull Columbus into a tie.

``We spent a lot time battling in the offensive zone, the hard work paid off,'' Carney said. ``The puck squirted out and I just happened to be in the right place.''

Lupul, a second-year NHL player who leads Anaheim with four goals, gave the Ducks a 3-2 lead with 12:31 left before Hrdina tied it.

``We want to be a team that is tough to play night in and night out,'' said Lupul. ``We did them some favors tonight, but for the first time all season we really came back and battled over 60 minutes.''

Travis Moen and Lupul scored in the second period to give Anaheim a 2-0 advantage. Hrdina started the Blue Jackets comeback with a goal late in the period.

Bryan Berard scored a power-play goal earlier in the third period to get the Blue Jackets even at 2. Columbus was just 1-for-24 with the man advantage before Berard connected.

``It was good we got the power play going, but coming from behind on the road you want to at least steal a point there, it's frustrating,'' Berard said.

Lupul's two goal effort was well-timed as Anaheim was without center Sergei Fedorov who was held out with a groin injury, and defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh who was sidelined by the flu.

``Those guys are two key components of our power play so we just tried to simplify it tonight, get pucks to the point and crash the net,'' Lupul said. ``It's pretty rewarding when we are missing two guys and step up and get a goal''

Columbus forward Rick Nash was out again because of a sprained right ankle.

The Blue Jackets fell to 1-2 on a four-game road trip that ends Sunday at Los Angeles.

``It's frustrating to lose like that when we battled back,'' Leclaire said. ``We worked really hard to come back.''

Notes: Anaheim D Jason Marshall broke his nose blocking a shot by Jaroslav Balastik in the first period. He left the game and did not return ... Nash is expected to be out another two weeks because of the ankle injury sustained during a training camp scrimmage Sept. 14. He played fewer than 9 minutes in the Blue Jackets' season opener on Oct. 5 and hasn't played since.
