DETROIT (AP) -Sergei Fedorov answered the boos.

His goal in the third extra round of the shootout gave the Columbus Blue Jackets a 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night.

David Vyborny and Rick Nash also scored in the shootout for Columbus. Pavel Datsyuk and Dan Cleary netted Detroit's shootout goals.

Fedorov, a member of the Red Wings from 1990-2003, is booed by Detroit fans every time he touches the puck each time he plays in Detroit.

"After the game it's sad, before the game it's exciting. It's not an easy building for me to play personally," said Fedorov, whose 400 goals for the Red Wings put him behind only Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman and Alex Delvecchio in franchise history. "I'm just happy we battled hard and got two points."

He beat Chris Osgood on a wrist shot over the pads for the shootout winner.

"In the business of sports, when you get booed, that means you're a good player," Blue Jackets' coach Ken Hitchcock said. "I've seen (Todd) Bertuzzi get booed, I've seen Yzerman get booed like crazy in Dallas, (Chris) Chelios gets booed everyplace. Good players get booed."

Datsyuk scored in regulation and Chris Osgood made 29 saves for Detroit, which had Bertuzzi in the lineup for the first time since he was acquired from Florida at last month's trade deadline.

"We weren't very good," Red Wings' coach Mike Babcock said. "We didn't have that crispness. And we didn't skate well."

Bertuzzi, who hasn't played since October because of back surgery, played left wing on Detroit's top line that was centered by Datsyuk and had Tomas Holmstrom on right wing.

"I got a little more involved every shift and felt a little more confident," he said.

Bertuzzi received an interference penalty with 4:42 remaining in the second period and had to get stitches in his chin after Chelios' shot was deflected and hit him.

Ole-Kristian Tollefsen had Columbus' goal and Fredrik Norrena stopped 35 shots.

Tollefsen tied the game with 2:42 left in regulation on a slap shot from the point.

It was his second career goal and second in two nights.

Datsyuk gave Detroit a 1-0 lead at 8:30 of the third period when he beat Norrena with a slap shot from the left circle for his 24th of the season and third in three games. Norrena got a piece of the shot with his glove.

Notes: Cleary, a left wing, returned after missing 11 games with a knee injury. ... Columbus D Rostislav Klesla missed his second game with a hip injury. ... Datsyuk stretched his point streak to 12 games (5-13-18). It was also the third consecutive game that he has scored Detroit's only goal. ... Chelios played in his 1,540th NHL game, tying Johnny Bucyk for ninth on the career list.
