CALGARY, Alberta (AP) -Todd Bertuzzi made a winning return to the Calgary Flames' lineup Wednesday night.

Sidelined the previous five games because of a hip flexor, Bertuzzi scored the winning goal in a shootout in the Flames' 5-4 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

"I enjoy being in that situation and it was nice to get the nod. I was pretty happy when it went in," said Bertuzzi, who entered the game with four goals in his past nine games after going 19 games without a goal.

Mike Cammalleri's second goal of the game tied at 4 at 12:35 of the third period.

"He won the game for us. I'd call that an impact. What a great move," Cammalleri said about Bertuzzi's winning goal. "He played really well. He was skating well. He obviously fills a big role in our lineup and it's very nice to have him back".

After Cammalleri and Jarome Iginla were stopped by Steve Mason on the Flames' first two shootout attempts, Bertuzzi put Calgary ahead on a deke as he backhanded the puck over the sprawled Columbus goaltender.

Miikka Kiprusoff ended it when he turned aside Jakub Voracek's deke attempt, just as the Calgary goalie did the earlier attempts by Jason Williams and Rick Nash.

"It was a good game. They're a good team, there's a reason they're in the top of the standings," Nash said. "We held in there for a long time but they came out on top."

Kiprusoff finished with 29 saves.

R.J. Umberger had two goals for Columbus, and Voracek and Nash also scored.

"For being undermanned, we were minus six players tonight, I thought we really cowboyed up and really gutted it out tonight and played a great game," Columbus coach Ken Hitchcock said.

Cammalleri tied it with his team-leading 22nd goal of the season. After Iginla forced Raffi Torres to turn over the puck at the Columbus blue line, Cammalleri collected the loose puck, moved into the slot and ripped a shot over Mason's shoulder.

Cammalleri has eight goals and two assists during his six-game points streak.

"I can't emphasize how important these two points were for us as far as our psyche goes going into the break," Cammalleri said. "With the two losses before it, let's not sugarcoat it, it really would have sucked if we had lost tonight and it would have felt ugly going into the break."

The Blue Jackets blew four leads in the game.

"That's something we've got to fix," Nash said. "We've taken a big step just being in the playoff race this year. We have never really been in this position as a franchise and games like these are things that a young team has to learn."

Notes: Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf was thrown out of the game for boarding. ... The Blue Jackets were 1-0-2 on their three-game trip through Western Canada. ... Calgary is 7-0-2 in its last nine home games against the Blue Jackets.
