Flames-Blue Jackets Preview
Calgary Flames vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

The Calgary Flames' recent success on the road has given them their longest winning streak of the season. Another victory away from home will help them establish a club record.

The Flames look to finish their season-high, six-game road trip with a perfect mark Tuesday when they meet the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Calgary (16-13-5) has won each of the first five games on this trip, which began with a 3-2 victory at Chicago on Dec. 9. It is the team's longest winning streak away from home since taking six straight from Dec. 16, 2003-Jan. 6, 2004.

The franchise's longest run as a visitor is seven consecutive victories, a mark that was set Nov. 10-Dec. 4, 1988. It was during that stretch that the Flames won a club-record five straight on the same trip.

To establish the franchise mark and go 6-0 on this trip, the Flames will likely rely on the production from their top line of Jarome Iginla, Kristian Huselius and Daymond Langkow, which combined for 12 points in Sunday's 5-3 victory in St. Louis.

Iginla had two goals and two assists, Huselius scored a goal and added four assists and Langkow added two goals and an assist for the Flames, who have 22 goals in this five-game span.

"They've got a lot of confidence," Flames coach Mike Keenan said of the linemates. "It's obvious when they're scoring goals, they've all got a lot of offensive jump, moving the puck well. Once you gain that confidence you can really perpetuate your offense and continue to get results and that's what they have been able to do."

Huselius has five goals and six assists in this stretch, with 10 points (four goals and six assists) coming in the last two games. Langkow has four goals and three assists in the five-game run, which is the Flames' longest overall winning streak since taking six in a row from March 20-31.

Iginla is among the league leaders with 23 goals and 48 points.

"We want to keep our streak rolling, and it was a tough game," said Iginla, who has four goals and three assists since last Tuesday.

During this streak, Miikka Kiprusoff has posted a 2.96 goals-against average. He finished with 14 saves on Sunday for his 16th win - two fewer than league-leader Evgeni Nabokov of San Jose.

Kiprusoff is 8-2-2 with a 1.93 GAA against Columbus (14-12-6), which has lost each of its last three games overall. Against the Flames, however, the Blue Jackets have won the last two meetings, including a 4-3 overtime victory on Dec. 1 in Calgary.

The Blue Jackets have won three straight over the Flames in Columbus, where Calgary is 3-8-1 all-time. The Flames haven't won at Nationwide Arena since Oct. 7, 2005.

Columbus opens a four-game homestand on Tuesday, looking to bounce back from a 2-0 loss in Boston on Saturday in which it went 0-for-5 on the power play.

The Blue Jackets have just three man-advantage goals in 25 opportunities in their last six games, and will oppose a Calgary penalty-killing unit that has limited opponents to only three power-play goals in 23 chances in the last five games.

Columbus hopes leading scorer Rick Nash can regain his touch. Nash leads the Blue Jackets with 18 goals - including six on the power play - and 31 points, but has gone without a point in his last four appearances. He has two goals and six assists in 15 career games versus Calgary.
