COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Columbus Blue Jackets, with the fewest goals in the NHL, finally won a game because of their offense.

Trevor Letowski scored with 4:37 left to help the Blue Jackets to a 6-5 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night in the highest-scoring home game in the franchise's five years.

In a wild game that had little defense and end-to-end action, the Blue Jackets blew leads of 2-0, 3-2, 4-3 and 5-4 before Letowski's goal.

"As far as offense, it worked out for us really, really well," said Columbus forward Sergei Fedorov. "It was good to see some individual effort from the guys who scored some goals - especially the last one."

Jason Chimera, who scored the first Columbus goal, carried the puck down the left wing and left a drop pass for Letowski. Letowski put a fake on Todd Bertuzzi that froze him before charging in on goaltender Alexander Auld, skating to the slot and beating Auld between his leg pads.

"I just kind of stepped around him (Bertuzzi) and went five-hole," said Letowski, who only has six goals but has scored in the last two games. "It felt good, just the timing of the goal and it being a game-winner."

Bertuzzi, Nolan Baumgartner and Daniel Sedin each had a goal and an assist for the Canucks, who are 18-3-3 at home but only 10-14-2 on the road. Sami Salo and Alexandre Burrows also had goals. Markus Naslund added two assists.

Vancouver coach Marc Crawford said it wore on his team to have to constantly play from behind.

"It's a difficult way to play, no matter who you're playing against," he said. "We got ourselves back in to the game on a couple of occasions after a slow start. We did do some good things to generate (offense), unfortunately it didn't end up the way we would have liked.

"Anytime you score five goals, that's usually enough to win."

Jan Hrdina had two goals, Bryan Berard had a goal and two assists and Nikolai Zherdev had a goal and an assist for Columbus, which has won six of its last nine games. David Vyborny had three assists.

"There wasn't too much room to make any plays around the net," Hrdina said. "So we said we were just going to shoot the puck from the point and get those rebounds. It worked for us."

Zherdev has five goals and four assists in four games against the Canucks.

The Blue Jackets tied a franchise record with four power-play goals.

"It was a little frustrating to keep giving up the lead," Berard said. "After getting beat (4-0) by St. Louis last night they came out and I thought they played pretty well. But we played better."

Chimera opened the scoring 1:14 into the game when he slid in a rebound. The Blue Jackets made it 2-0 on the power play at the 4:13 mark when Rostislav Klesla's shot from the top of the left circle was stopped by Auld but bounced directly to Hrdina.

Salo and Baumgartner then scored for the Canucks to tie the game at the end of the first period.

The teams traded goals in the second period and went into the third tied 4-4.

Hrdina's seventh goal gave the Blue Jackets a 5-4 lead with 7:44 left, converting his own rebound. But a minute later, Burrows jammed in a rebound of Ryan Kesler's shot to tie it again.

Auld was 3-0 with a 1.68 goals-against average last week, but surrendered the six goals on 43 shots.

Notes: The Canucks have won four of six and seven of 10 but have lost their last two. ... Vancouver D Ed Jovanovski reinjured a groin and did not return after the first period. ... It was only the second game the Blue Jackets have won this year when allowing four or more goals.
