Tony Martino joined the Columbus Blue Jackets organization as an amateur scout during the summer of 2007 and will evaluate junior players in Quebec and the United States. The former goaltender brings extensive coaching and playing experience to the organization, having served as an associate coach and assistant director of hockey operations with the Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL) and head coach in the WPHL/CHL (New Mexico), ACHL (Knoxville) and in Italy (HC Asiago and HC Varese). A native of Montreal, Quebec, Martino played college hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) before playing professionally in Europe. He also played for the Tulsa Oilers (CHL), New Mexico Scorpions (WPHL) and Detroit Vipers (IHL) before beginning his coaching career in 1999 with New Mexico. Martino resides in Ste. Adele, Quebec with his fiancée, Sherrey, and is father to daughter, Sara, and son, Christian. |
